The 2024 Indian general election was held from April 19 to June 1, 2024, in seven phases to elect all 543 members of the Lok Sabha

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi secured a third term, leading the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its coalition, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), to win 293 seats  .
  • The primary opposition, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), led by the Indian National Congress (INC), won 234 seats  .
  • The election saw a voter turnout of 66.10%, with over 642 million people participating  .
  • The BJP won 240 seats, a decrease from the 303 seats it held in 2019, losing its singular majority in the Lok Sabha  .

In Tamil Nadu, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) led the INDIA alliance to win all 39 seats in the state
